Get to Know Emily
My name is Emily Baumgartner and I am a senior, marketing major graduating in May 2012 from East Carolina University! I aspire to continue to create and be joyful in all circumstances. I love marketing for many reason. 1) No matter what the product, unless it’s “marketed” well, no one will buy it, and thus the product will inevitably fail – in short, marketing is NECESSARY. 2) 3) And mostly for the fact that marketing requires a plethora of different skills to do well.
Since August 2009, I have been a Young Life Leader at a local high school, North Pitt, in Bethel, NC. This voluntary, leadership position has challenged me exponentially, crafting me into a better leader and furthering my relationship the Lord. My younger years consisted of playing competitive sports including: basketball, volleyball, lacrosse, and track & field. At some point in my life, I want to live in Colorado, and be in Alaska for an extended period of time. Two of my most prominent hobbies include playing (competitive) sports and making things, such as crafts. I also really like being outdoors and doing extreme outdoorsy things. If you asked me what my favorite season is, it would be a tie between summer and winter (both are great for completely different reasons).
I’m from Northern Virginia, but I rarely spend much time there. Rather than being at home during my past two summers off of school, I was in Pigeon Forge, TN working at Dollywood in conjunction with a program called Discipleship Focus (do it, it’s amazing!). I’ve even had the opportunity to hug Dolly Parton – that was an exciting day!
After graduation, in May 2012, there are a many things I can potentially do. Ideally, I want to start my career in a hip, up and coming city. I am confident in my abilities and the start of this new chapter in my life!
